PilotAware and the Open Glider Network

Since the Winter of 2016/17, PilotAware has been involved with the Open Glider Network. The goal of this cooperation has been to receive and re-broadcast the location of gliders equipped with FLARM and OGN Trackers. This safety initiative works by upgrading the OGN ground stations, to re-broadcast the glider locations on the P3i frequency of 869.5 MHz. This allows all aircraft with PilotAware products to be alerted to the position of gliders in the vacinity of the OGN-R station.

OGN-R Rebroadcasting net

If you fly with PilotAware within the green net shown on the provided link, FLARM and OGN-R data will be re-broadcast to your PilotAware unit allowing navigation apps to display the location of aircraft equipped with FLARM or OGN trackers. At the beginning of May 2018 65+ antennas had been installed with more in the pipeline. If you would like to help with this initiative then please send an email to OGN@pilotaware.com  We also have our first  OGN-R stations in Germany, Poland, Sweden, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
